Itinerary
Ouarzazate to Sahara Desert (Erg Chegaga)

day 1Ouarzazate - Kasbah Amridil - Dades Gorge - Tinghir

Depart Ouarzazate in the morning and drive to the Skoura palm grove to visit Kasbah Amridil, an excellent example of traditional mud-brick architecture. Continue along the Dades Valley with stops at scenic viewpoints to photograph the layered cliffs and roadside kasbahs. In the late afternoon proceed to Tinghir/Todra, stroll through the palm oasis, and explore the impressive Todra Gorge as its vertical walls glow at sunset. Overnight in Tinghir or nearby.

Day 2Tinghir - Alnif - Zagora - Tamgroute - M’Hamid

Early departure from Tinghir across high plateaus toward Alnif, with an optional stop to see fossil sites and lunar-like terrain. Continue to Zagora for supplies and lunch, then visit Tamgroute to view its historic Quranic library, distinctive green pottery, and the zawiya. Drive on to M’Hamid—the gateway to the deep south—check into an auberge or simple guesthouse, prepare for desert activities, and enjoy an evening under the stars with local hospitality.

Day 3M’Hamid - Erg Chegaga

Depart M’Hamid by 4×4 (with optional camel segment) toward the vast Erg Chegaga dunes. Spend the day exploring the dunescape: climb dune crests for panoramic photography, try sandboarding or short camel rides, and experience the profound silence of the desert. Ensure adequate water, sun protection, and a local guide for safety. Overnight in a nomadic-style desert camp with dinner by the fire and traditional Berber music.

Day 4Erg Chegaga - Agdz - Ouarzazate

Return in the morning from Chegaga along the desert track, ascending toward Agdz through changing scenery of dunes, plateaus, and palm oases. Stop in Agdz for lunch and a brief visit to a local kasbah or palm grove. Continue to Ouarzazate arriving late afternoon; time permitting, visit Taourirt Kasbah or a film studio before concluding the tour.
