5 days desert tour from Marrakech to Merzouga

Welcome at Menara airport in Marrakech and meeting with the accompanying guide. Prepare to be surprised and inspired! Transfer to the Hotel or Riad. Visit Jemaa el-Fna square and the medina, the heart of the city, for free and at your own pace.

A unique experience, where all the activity of life and night is concentrated: dancers, storytellers, jugglers, artisans, merchants and snake charmers. From the terraces of certain cafes, you have a wide view of the city: mosques and minarets, palaces and gardens, souks and bazaars. Jemaa el-Fna Square This main square of the city attracts tourists and locals throughout the day who can visit the stalls selling orange juice and water, as well as snake charmers, henna painting women or boys with monkeys.

At night the atmosphere changes and you can see dancers, musicians and jugglers filling it completely and creating an atmosphere of drumming and fun. We recommend sitting in one of the surrounding cafes to enjoy the ambiance or going for dinner at one of the more than 100 stalls set up at this time offering different types of Moroccan dishes.

After breakfast, at 8:00 am, meet the guide at your hotel to start the tour. We will cross the High Atlas passing by the port of Tichka at 2260m above sea level, making several stops to admire the landscape and take photos, as it is one of the most impressive routes in Morocco.

We will see the changing vegetation of Marrakech as well as the views of the palm groves and the north face of the mountains. Due to the aridity of the south, we will begin to observe the first adobe Berber villages on the mountain slopes. We stray to visit the Kasbah of Aït Ben Haddou, the well-preserved fortified city (ksour) which has been declared a world heritage site by UNESCO, and the setting for many films.

After crossing the town of Ouarzazate, called the “door of the desert”, we will continue through the Skoura palm grove and the Valley of Roses until reaching the Dades Valley, where we will spend the night surrounded by mountains.

After breakfast, we will continue along the banks of Boumalne Dadès, in a road surrounded by kasbahs and ksours (fortresses or castles), whose landscape is ocher, red and mauve. After a journey full of oases and palm trees, we will arrive in Tineghir, where the spectacular Todra Gorges are perched at 1,350 m above sea level and surrounded by a palm grove.

We will continue towards Erfoud (city of fossils) and after having covered several tracks we will arrive at Merzouga, in front of the dunes of Erg Chebbi, where we will pass from our vehicle to the camels, which will take us to the camp to spend the night in Haimas and enjoy the magic of the desert under a blanket of millions of stars. Typical dinner to the rhythm of Berber drums. It will undoubtedly be a magical evening!

Whoever wishes can get up early to see the sun rise and not miss the unique opportunity to see a sunrise that can be enjoyed in few places on earth. After breakfast, we will say goodbye to the dunes and return with the camels to the place where our vehicle awaits us to take the road towards the Draa Valley, the largest oasis in Morocco. We will make several stops to admire the pretty adobe kasbahs and Berber villages along the route as well as the interesting geological formations of the valley. We will arrive in Marrakech in the afternoon with transfer to your hotel for a well-deserved rest or to continue exploring Marrakech at your leisure.

Depending on the scheduled flight departure time, free time for final visits and purchases or, if the scheduled flight departure time allows, optional tour with local guide. Shuttle to the airport at the agreed time.
