3-Day Erg Chegaga Desert Tour from Ouarzazate

Depart in the morning from your hotel in Ouarzazate and travel towards Agdz through the volcanic landscapes of the Anti-Atlas Mountains. Continue along the magnificent Draa Valley, renowned for its vast palm groves, traditional villages and historic mud-brick kasbahs. Several panoramic stops will allow you to admire the scenery and learn more about the local culture. After passing through Zagora, visit Tamgroute, a village famous for its traditional green pottery, before reaching M’Hamid El Ghizlane, the last oasis before the Sahara. Dinner and overnight stay in comfortable accommodation in M’Hamid.

After breakfast, set off by 4×4 across the Sahara tracks towards the magnificent dunes of Erg Chegaga. Along the way, discover a variety of desert landscapes, including rocky plateaus, sand dunes, acacia trees and isolated oases. Upon arrival, enjoy a camel ride and admire a spectacular sunset over the Chegaga dunes. In the evening, savour a traditional Moroccan dinner and gather around the campfire for local music before spending the night in a Sahara desert camp, beneath a star-filled sky and far from the crowds.

Wake up early to watch the sunrise over the dunes, followed by breakfast at the desert camp. Leave Erg Chegaga by 4×4 and cross the wild landscapes of Lake Iriki, a vast seasonal dry lake, before reaching Foum Zguid. After lunch, continue towards Taznakht, a town renowned for its handmade Berber carpets, before travelling back to Ouarzazate through the beautiful Anti-Atlas scenery.
